April 2008 Christmas Memories Quilt Show, Coshocton Canal Quilters, Coshocton, OH Although there were over 200 quilts at the show, not all participants chose to have their entry judged. I estimate that I judged approximately 80 quilts, all hanging, and chose 2 for special accomodations - one per floor of the Coshocton Civic Center.
March 2008 Stow-Monroe Falls Public Library Friends of the Library 34th Spring Needlework Show This show uses 4 judges, 2 for quilting and 2 for the needlework. I was pleased to see Ruth Swinehart again, and judged the quilted items with her.
June 2008 39th Annual NQA Quilt Show, Columbus, OH This was a busy week in Columbus, working on all aspects of the show, from spending 2 long days on the Judging Floor watching the Certified Judges (Lovell Symons, Scott Murkin, and Fran Kordek) in action, to hanging the show and even taking down the show at the end of the week. I learned so much! I took a two day Quilt Judging Seminar with Klaudeen Hansen and Anita Shackelford, as well as other classes and lectures.
July 2008 The Ohio State Fair, Columbus, OH I was not the judge, but worked as an aide to the NQA Certified Judges - Donna McDade, Linda Luggen, and Linda Scholten. 2 Quilts were disqualified, and 79 were judged. Late in the afternoon I took a turn at being the scribe - I'm a better aide! I think scribes have a tough job!
September 2008 'AHOY! A Sea Of Quilts', Common Threads Quilting Guild, Brooklyn, OH I was the sole judge, had terrific scribes, and we judged 110 quilts. Again, the participants had a choice whether to be judged, and a total of 139 quilts were in the show.
October 2008 Streetsboro 2008 Quilt Show, Streetsboro Quilt Guild, Streetsboro, OH Norma Cope and I judged using the point system, 200 beautiful quilts.
